Viva Venezia Guest House is within easy walking distance of all of the main sites in Venice:  the Piazza San Marco, the Doge's Palace with the Bridge of Sighs, the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the Rialto Bridge, the church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, the Scuola Grande San Rocco, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, and the three main Venetian palaces with museums, the Ca' Rezzonico, the Ca' d'Oro, and the Ca’ Pesaro.  Viva Venezia has two spectacular locations, which are located 100 meters apart.  Viva Venezia is located in the cultural and historic heart of Venice. The guest house offers a spectacular location, beautiful rooms, and it is very easy to find. The guest house is conveniently located and is only a five-minute walk from the main train station, Ferrovia Santa Lucia.  Viva Venezia It is also close to a local vaporetto stop if you want to take a scenic trip by boat up the Grand Canal. Nearby is also one of the most beautiful and vibrant piazzas in Italy, the square that surrounds the Church of San Giacomo dell'Orio. Also less than two minutes away are a large grocery store and some of the best places to eat and drink in Venice.
Because of the labyrinthine layout of Venice’s streets and the many bridges with stairs, carrying your luggage and finding your hotel can be challenging. Other places to stay in Venice are more difficult to find and if you are carrying luggage and your hotel is not near the station, you will need to take a boat (vaporetto), which costs 9.50 euros for a single ticket. Even if you have a lot of luggage, it is very easy to reach Viva Venezia on foot and we provide good directions in English. For a map and directions, please see our website page entitled "location."

Here are some images of Viva Venezia.

Viva Venezia is located just off the lively street in the Sestiere (district) of Santa Croce, the Lista Vecchia dei Bari, where there are plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes, and two art galleries:

The building itself, like many houses in the Sestiere of Santa Croce, was probably built in the 16th or 17th century.  A carved stone above the doorway represents a bishop's crozier and the letters "S.Z.E." (below, left).  This marker also appears on the house next door.  Both markers are identical to carved stones that appear set into the walls of the nearby Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista (below, right). Even though the Scuola is located in the neighboring district, the Sestiere of San Polo, it is only three minutes away on foot.  It is very possible that the building that houses Viva Venezia was originally owned by or affiliated with the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista.
